Advanced Pool Building Knowledge
Marvin Morrow of Flagship Pools is a PHTA Certified Advanced Pool Builder Professional, a credential within the Pool & Hot Tub Alliance's professional builder and design pathway powered by GENESIS®.
Advanced education in pool construction and fluid hydraulics brings another level of technical knowledge to the pools we build and renovate.
Beyond Basic Pool Construction
The Certified Advanced Pool Builder Professional credential is the second level of PHTA's four-level professional builder and design pathway.
Before advancing to this level, Marvin completed the Certified Builder Professional requirements, including GENESIS® construction education and the CBP examination. Advanced certification adds specialized education in Fluid Hydraulics for Pools & Spas and requires successful completion of the Advanced CBP examination.
Why Hydraulics Matter
A beautiful pool still has to perform.
Behind the tile, finishes and water features is a carefully interconnected hydraulic system. Pipe sizing, pumps, filters, heaters, returns, suction lines and water features all affect how water moves through the pool.
Advanced hydraulic education helps us look at the pool as a complete system rather than a collection of individual pieces of equipment.
Circulation
Thoughtful hydraulic design supports effective movement of water throughout the pool.
Energy Efficiency
Pipe sizing, flow rates and system resistance can directly affect pump operation and energy consumption.
Equipment Performance
Pumps, filters, heaters and other equipment need to work together as a system.
Water Features
Spillovers and other water features introduce additional hydraulic demands that should be considered during design.
Technical Knowledge That Matters at Every Stage
NEW POOL CONSTRUCTION
Starting from the ground up gives us the opportunity to consider structure, plumbing, hydraulics and equipment as one integrated system.
POOL REMODELING
A renovation is an opportunity to look deeper than new tile and plaster. We can evaluate existing equipment and hydraulic systems and identify opportunities to improve how the pool operates.
