Pool Leak Detection & Repair
in Friendswood, TX & Surrounding Areas
Professional pool leak detection using specialized LeakTronics equipment, systematic testing, and a written report with findings and recommended repairs.
Is Your Pool Losing Water?
Some water loss is normal, especially during hot Texas summers. Persistent or excessive water loss, however, may indicate a leak.
Signs worth investigating can include:
A pool that requires frequent refilling
An autofill that seems to run continuously
Water loss that appears greater than normal evaporation
Wet or unusually damp areas around the pool or equipment
Water that repeatedly drops to a particular level
Visible cracks or deterioration around the pool, spa, skimmers, or fittings
Unexplained changes in the pool's water level
If your pool is losing more water than normal, we can systematically test the pool, plumbing, fittings, and equipment to help identify the source before unnecessary repairs are made.
Our Pool Leak Detection Process
Every pool is different. The configuration of the pool, spa, plumbing, equipment, skimmers, drains, returns, lights, and water features determines which tests are appropriate.
Flagship's leak-detection process may include several diagnostic methods based on the conditions we encounter.
Visual Inspection
We begin by evaluating accessible areas of the pool system for visible signs that could indicate water loss.
Our inspection can include:
Pool and spa perimeter
Accessible plumbing
Equipment pad
Skimmers
Pool and spa structures
Visible fittings and penetrations
Audio Leak Detection
Specialized LeakTronics equipment allows us to listen for indications of water movement at potential leak locations.
Depending on the pool configuration, audio inspection may include:
Pool shell
Spa shell
Skimmers
Main drains
Return jets
Pool and spa light niches
Spa jets
Spa returns
This technology can help narrow the search without unnecessarily opening decks or structures simply to look for a leak.
Dye Testing
When conditions warrant it, dye testing can help identify water movement around suspected leak locations.
Areas tested may include:
Skimmers
Main drains
Return fittings
Light niches
Pool shell
Spa shell
Spa jets and fittings
The behavior of the dye can provide additional evidence when evaluating a suspected leak.
Low-Pressure Plumbing Testing
A pool can lose water through plumbing even when there is no visible evidence at the surface.
When appropriate, Flagship can perform low-pressure testing of individual pool and spa plumbing circuits to help determine whether a line is holding pressure.
Testing may include:
Skimmer lines
Pool main drain lines
Pool return lines
Spa return lines
Spa main drain lines
Spa jet lines
The results are documented individually so you have a clearer understanding of which systems were evaluated and what was found.
Complex Infinity Edge Water Level Investigation
An infinity-edge pool, spa, and overflow basin operate as one connected water system. For this project, Flagship Pools monitored water levels over multiple visits, dye-tested key fittings, and evaluated the autofill and waterfall operation.
Dye testing did not indicate leaks at the drains, lights, or skimmers we tested. We also identified a waterfall-pump discharge condition that can allow back-siphoning after extended downtime, along with improvements to autofill capacity and waterfall scheduling for more reliable water-level management.

Why Flagship Pools for Leak Detection?
Specialized LeakTronics Equipment
We use the LeakTronics Swimming Pool Pro Equipment Bundle, professional equipment specifically designed for swimming pool leak detection.
Trained in Pool Leak Detection
Our team has completed the LeakTronics Online Swimming Pool Leak Detection Training and Certification Course, providing specialized training in swimming pool leak-detection methods and equipment.
Pool Construction Knowledge Helps Us Diagnose the System
Flagship isn't simply a leak-detection service.
Our experience with swimming pool construction, renovation, equipment, hydraulics, plumbing, spas, water features, and structural components gives us a broader understanding of the system we're diagnosing.
That matters when the goal isn't merely to identify evidence of a leak, but to understand the problem and determine an appropriate path toward repair.
Written Findings, Not Just a Verbal Opinion
Customers receive a written report detailing the testing performed, findings, and recommendations rather than relying solely on a verbal diagnosis.
Where Can a Swimming Pool Leak?
A pool is a system of interconnected structures, plumbing, fittings, and equipment. Water loss can originate from many different locations.
Skimmer Leaks
Skimmers are integrated into both the pool structure and plumbing system. Problems can occur around the skimmer body, fittings, connections, or the surrounding structure.
Underground Pool Plumbing
Suction and return plumbing can develop leaks that aren't visible from above ground. Pressure testing and specialized listening equipment can help determine whether a plumbing circuit may be involved.
Main Drains and Return Fittings
Leaks can occur around fittings, connections, or plumbing associated with pool and spa drains and returns.
Pool and Spa Light Niches
Light niches and their associated penetrations are another area that may require evaluation when tracking unexplained water loss.
Pool or Spa Shell
Cracks, penetrations, fittings, and other areas of the pool or spa structure can allow water to escape.
Equipment Pad
Pumps, filters, heaters, valves, connections, and exposed plumbing should also be evaluated when determining the source of water loss.

FAQs
-
Some water loss is normal, especially during hot Texas weather. Evaporation can vary based on temperature, humidity, wind, sun exposure, water temperature, and pool use. If you're adding water more frequently than usual or the water level is dropping consistently, a leak may be the cause.
A simple bucket test can help determine whether your pool is losing water faster than normal evaporation. If the results indicate a possible leak, professional testing can help identify the source.
-
Every pool and leak is different, so we use a combination of testing methods based on the pool's configuration and what we find during the inspection.
Flagship Pools uses professional LeakTronics equipment, and our leak-detection process may include visual inspection, audio leak detection, dye testing, and low-pressure testing of individual plumbing lines. Our goal is to systematically narrow down potential sources of water loss rather than simply guessing where the problem might be.
-
Depending on the pool's configuration and conditions, leak detection may include evaluation of skimmers, main drains, return lines and fittings, pool and spa shells, light niches, spa jets, plumbing lines, and the equipment area.
Not every test is necessary or appropriate for every pool. We determine the testing approach based on the pool system and the conditions we encounter.

Yes. Flagship Pools provides a written Leak Detection Customer Report documenting the testing performed and our findings.
Your report may include photographs, results for individual pool and spa components, areas of concern, and our recommendations for the appropriate next steps or repairs. This gives you documentation you can refer back to instead of relying solely on a verbal diagnosis.
